and yes I polished up the cam chain tensioner as well, just not to a high mirror finish

Marc, there is a sickness that comes over some of us when we get close to the polishing wheel. You are correct. You cannot see the breather cover once the tank is on. But when I had that part off and was getting it cleaned up I thought, "I bet I could put that on the wheel and it would look awesome." Thus the sickness.

I don't think anyone has it as bad as Steve though. He polishes internal motor parts.

I think we should form a support group for him.

Can you even see the polished breather cover? No criticism, it just seems like a lot of work for a piece no one really sees. Maybe it's more visible on a 850? Or it's it just a case of, 'because I can.' That's cool too, just curious.

That's funny Good Times. I say that you shouldn't ride it at all. It's too nice now. I have been following this rebuild along with a few others. There are some really superb projects/rebuilds going on around here (yours included of course). Great work and patience with this. I imagine the temptation to skip a few of the non-essential details just to ride it sooner but you have resisted that and taken your time with every little thing. That's awesome. Have a great first ride and a good time.

It looks like GK is almost done. I think I'll go bug him now.
He's been worrying about minor things like tires and chains now. Gee whiz

mine is at a stop now as well tins are going to the painter, and that will cost me 10 days at least.....but once they are back, I am ready to go, minus the decals of course but I will put an order in for those as well, no big deal if they are over the clear coat it would have been nice to have them under it, but I am not about to wait another 3-4 weeks, riding season is almost half gone already here....

Thanks Missle! Patience has been key to this build. There have been a few time where I've thought, "Well, that doesn't really matter" but then I just can't go forward without it being right.

GK and I have been running parallel tracks on the builds but he has pulled ahead here at the end. His bike looks and I'm sure will also run great.

My build will be off for the next week and a half and has been for a about a week and a half prior to this post. It will be back on after we get back from vacation.

Can't wait to get back to it though!

I'm trying to decide where my inaugural ride is going to be?! I mean, it can't just be to the office or the quick mart. It needs to be something video worthy at least. And not too far in case I break down. Now there's confidence in the build!

I have been thinking the same, short run will be around the block just to make sure, after that I have 2 places in mind, but I will let pics tell of the spot when the time comes....

rubber will be on this weekend, so I am really close.....after that it's painting of the tins, but that won't stop me from a least one good ride......
