    GS 450 L for 450 E tank swap

If I wanted to swap a 81 450 L for an 81 450 E tank is that as easy as taking one off and putting on the other or are there any size restrictions of problems that might come up?

Not sure about the 450, on some of the Ls the spot for the G tank mounts are still there in the frame, it would be easy to put in the pins that hold the rubber mounts, and cut off the mounts for the L tank.
On other L frames they are not there, it would take more work to do it.

I know the L tank can go on a E frame with some modifications, so I would imagine the reverse would be true.

As Tom said it should be simply a matter of relocating the pins that hold the rubber mounts.

Best measure the width of the channel and frame on both to be sure though in case the E is a little narrower or something.

If I remember next time I'm in the garage I can measure mine for you as the tank is off at the moment while I replace the stator.

Mate, apologies, remembered I needed to measure it as I was putting the seat back on for the test ride after finishing up the stator replacement

However, I will endeavour to do some measuring tomorrow night if I get in the garage. Won't be as accurate as having the tank off but I should be able to get a reasonably good idea for you.
