6pk, seeing as it is your thread, another pic of my '79.
Sun rims, antique grey engine enamal, '82 calipers, CBR rotors and PipeMaster exhaust.
The pipes sound is amazing, not at all mellow, Ferrarish? I also have a set of performance baffles that everybody but me finds annoying.
p.m. me your e-mail and i can send you some other pics.

Okay not a lot going on here for a while. I was away for a month and the bike isn't right at the top as front ends are a lot harder to locate than I had thought. I've got a shot at one pair that look good in 8 photos, but if they don't pan out I'm going to bite the bullet and get Forking by Frank to make a pair. Seems like the rubbers for the air collar and the headlight stays keep enough water that the vast majority of them suffer from moderate to pretty friggin' severe pitting. Anyway all that's moved is one of the nearly last scrubbing on the engine before it opens up (now definitely in the fall/winter) and the Reprodecals on the parts. Ironically there is no sun again today and the paint is not given its proper due. What can I say?

That "Candy Apple Red" on your's looks like the '82's very stockish "Candy Fancy Maroon" don't you think?Okay not a lot going on here for a while. Basically the idea, but it has a lot of gold and gold micro flake in it. The idea was to basically appear like a stock color, but when the sun hits it the edges and creases light up a flake orangish/gold.The flash on the camera washes it out and the underlying gold looks pinkish or washed out. I tried with the camera inside and failed miserable. I need a sunny day. It does look neat when the sun catches it.

And also showing up today was the gloss black frame and bits and some semi-gloss black items I had redone in powder for better resistance than plain paint.

Mine only looks good in pictures, it will be yours that is going to be the "Cream Puff"
I think I'm either the 4th or 5th owner. I have the paperwork somewhere that has the history of it that I got from the PO, more likely the 5th owner.Comment

It definitely looks allot more red than it did in the previous pics with all the other painted parts. A really great color, Absolutely stunning! Don't know why but I've seen allot of '83's (on the Internet) that look more on the orange'ish side, perhaps they were faded or maybe something to do with camera's replication of the color. I always thought when I saw those, a Halloween bike.Comment

I was giving up hope on the fork tubes. I must have looked at 20 to 25 sets of forks going from absolute junk to nice but priced far more than accordingly. Nearly pulled the plug to call Forking by Frank. Board member Maro had a 1982 E that he was breaking up. The forks were mint and at a decent price! And I think they arrived before I sent the email saying I'd take them. Fastest I've even seen any parcel arrive. Hats off!

Another brick in the wall.Comment

So you found a good set too. You're certainly right about the pouring then. There was often one, sometimes two, other board member kicking over stones for me also. Another funny quirk seemed to be that it was easier to find ES tubes than just plain ole E's. I got a mint ES front end in the garage and I've seen two others that the tubes were good. Better material or sarcastic irony? When in brand X land there was a certain 2 year run of a specific body style and the side covers were more than prone to failure. So much in fact that to see a bike with both covers is a rarity. When I did find a good one it wasn't given away. I think the '82/'83 E fork tubes may be tied or a very close second for "good" parts to find. Lots of pitted examples out there for sure.Last edited by Guest; 08-02-2012, 09:04 AM.Comment

Well don't forget I've got one good one you can have. Well you can have both actually. But shipping the pitted one may not be worth the cost, unless its better than yours?Last edited by Guest; 08-03-2012, 11:31 AM.Comment
