Gonna follow this too, been trying to figure out a cheap way to make the hinges work on my seat (if Omar's dtr ever ships it...), doesn't seem like a half bad idea. And I know its primer, but the white doesn't look too bad, any ideas for color in the end?

I completely agree, and plan on doing that. I've searched the threads, I don't want to spend hours tinkering and adjusting/changing jets just to run pods... Not worth it to me.Originally posted by cowboyup3371 View PostStay with the stock filter at least until it's running right. You'll find it's easier to test it later if you do (and more riding versus wrenching time).

I plan on keeping the stock airbox, and I've been reading the sealing DIY on basscliffs website. However, my bike is older than the one in the DIY, and the part numbers listed, I think are for newer bikes.
Does anyone know where I can find the part numbers for the airbox boots? I've looked BLVD suzukis website, and in the diagram it doesn't have a listing for the boots.

 Thank you guys.

Yeah the white actually didn't look bad! I kinda liked the way it looks , but I already bought my paint for the bike. It's going Porsche GT3 Orange, paint code is 8C6.Originally posted by musicman View PostGonna follow this too, been trying to figure out a cheap way to make the hinges work on my seat (if Omar's dtr ever ships it...), doesn't seem like a half bad idea. I think you're SOL unless you find good used ones/whole airbox on ebay or salvage. Here's a recent thread with that conclusion. You can try some of the tricks listed there though to soften up the ones you've got. I like the hallowed out cafe look of pods and battery hidden in the seat hump, but I can appreciate simpler tuning.Originally posted by promking View PostDoes anyone know where I can find the part numbers for the airbox boots?

Looking good overall. Digging the white primer as well, but can't wait to see the orange. The reworked factory hinges on the cafe seat are a nice touch. If you do ever hallow out the frame, you can do a battery tray where that hoop is and just do a bigger cut-out in the plywood.

It's insanely easy. You have to pull the jets out to clean the carbs anyway, so it's not like you're treading in any unknown territory. I'd go up to like an 85 on the main jet and see how it rides. I've ended up with a some extra jets, but I don't mind. I expect to be wrenching on bikes for a long time, so having a bunch of jets seems like a good thing to me.

It does take a little extra time, but I got mine dialed in over a couple of hours. The trade off was well worth it. It looks better to me, I don't have air leaks, it's easier to get the carbs on/off... Can't complain!

Took off a few pieces to clean/sand blast before I paint them.

And this has been occupying most of my time at work!

So today I also ordered new mirrors, float bowl gaskets, O-Rings from Mr Barr and some intake stainless hardware!

 I'm almost ready for spring.

Z1 has the best prices on main jets that I have found, mine were $1.75 ea. opposed to $2.75 ea or $5.99 for 2 which seems to be really common pricing for them.

My Sata in the corner <3

This is what happened tonight.... crappy cell phone pics tonight let them dry overnight, and fit everything tomorrow night after work and the gym.

Saturday I have to meet with my wedding caterer and go " registry " shopping, to bad I can't register for bike crap.

Mr Barrs O-Rings, and my float bowl gaskets should be here today <3

I polished the floatbowls, and the top bowls last night after I painted the tank, sidecovers and seat.

Today I'm going to re-shoot the seat because I got a nasty run on the side. I don't want my friends to bust my balls over the run :-x

Tonight I'll finish ultrasonic cleaning my carbs, assemble them, and maybe call it a night we'll see!

I'm getting excited the weather is getting warmer.
