    So! long time no post.. I must admit, I have severe add with projects. I am starting to yearn for another type of problem to solve, field to learn, but I am determined to finish


    I got my new chain on.. the old one had a stiff link and would pop when I rode :O

    New, stainless front line... You can see the bondo on the front fender, and the fact that I trimmed it up a little ;P


    Rear line, with a one way valve that lets me bleed my brakes by myself. Just hook up and go!




    LOTS of bondo and fillable primer.... :P You think you get all the holes and dents filled in, and then you give it a nice coat of clear I have painted it, no pics yet. Its dark blue metal flake with the cap lid painted satin black.
    I have now decide not to cafe, and instead shoot for this: ( :P )



    I know it still has a lot of rough spots, but my plan is to ride it and get it performance wise where i want it before I paint it. THe #4cylinder smokes, I think it is a valve seal and the #1 cylinder has a tapping sound in the exhaust. I used an engine stethescope and did not hear anything in the crankcase, the cylinder, or the valve cover- just in the exhaust pipe. need ot tune the carbs, get a new tach and hook up the turn signals and it will at least be road ready! Anyone have any ideas about the tapping?

        So.... getting married in 11 days... not much time for bikes.. However, the UPS genie did bring me something fun....


        The one issue with these pipes, which look b-e-a-yoootiful btw, is that they will not fit into the heads. the flanges are just a little too big to go all the way into the jugs. Working on that. I think I may polish the area they slide into, or lightly sand it.


        I made some frame modifications to fit the new seat and new look....



        I do have one BIG issue now...


        There is not enough clearance between the tire and where the new seat will be for suspension clearance. I know I have seen bikes with frame mods like mine. What did they do? There is no way to ride 2up with this. Stiffer springs? Any ideas, please?

                The flanges on V&H heders dont fit all the way up to the jugs. Just bolt them in as long as the pipes fit flush to the head at the ends your fine. Use NEW exhaust gaskets as well. A screw driver will pry the old ones out of the head.

                    I do have new gaskets in. Right now, though I can't get the exhaust far enough into the jugs to get a good thread. Any ideas about the suspension?

                        The pipes are probably bottoming out and seating, but since V&H flanges are welded on way back youll need LONGER bolts. BUT BUT you need to know some critical things here!!!

                        1.. Take something and bottom it out in the bolt holes in the head and measure that depth..now SUBTRACT 5 MM from that depth. This is to prevent you getting bolts too long and running them thru the cylinder walls.

                        2...Now.. With the established hole depth ( minus the fudging room allowance) figure out how much bolt you need from the head surface to the flanges outer edge. Get a good measurement of the two and get the appropriate bolts. I prefer stainless with stainless washers.

                                No. But if they arent long enough to get a nut started on youll most likely need to swap them for longer ones too.

                                                First few pages and it says the pics were moved or deleted in the area that normally would be the picture...so I assumed it was at your end. Last few of the primered tank are still there.

                                                            They are a little more expensive than Progressive shocks but they have adjustable rebound dampening, and can be rebuilt or re-valved.
