Do you kid's know if a bigger motor will bolt on to my 450 frame?

Kid? Ha!
The later GS500's are almost a bolt in, but you need to do fancy routing of the exhausts as the outlets on the 500's point directly at the frame rails.
I believe a GR650 will have similar but not identical mounting, but is something like an inch taller so you'll probably have issues getting the valve cover off if you were to squeeze it in. -

That's what I'm thinking I might as well do. I just got my 1980 GS450 and it's in 5 boxes as we speak my thoughts are:
a) put it back together and hope it runs
b) part it out and take all the $$ buy a bike that I know is already running
The tab on the plate is from 87 so I'm kind of worried if the eng/tran will run and who knows if I even have all the parts I need.Comment

I just want to add: the GR650 motor is rare as heck. GS500 motors........not so much. And the post-2004 (?) GS motor has an oil cooler too.
There is a GS450 here somewhere that has a 500 motor with custom exhaust. I think it's in the thread called "Pictures of your twins" or something.Comment

Thanks for the reminder Rich! Yeah, BIGYAM's awesome 450 tracker ended up with a 500 motor in it...
Gotta say I really like that bike too...
