Very nice.
Is that chrome or polished clutch cover?
Got an other pic of the engine paint?2@ \'78 GS1000Comment

The clutch and stator cover were chromed in the late 80s and have held up very well. The engine was painted at the same time and only needed a little touch up. I bought from a friend that had owned since 1982. Black engine is not original, but gives it kind of an ES look. Will post some better engine pix.Comment

Bike looks great. Why did you put pods on a stock bike though? what car tunning did you do to compensate for the pods?Comment

The GS1000 has such good lines, and they handle so well and much fun to ride, it's nice to see one in really good condition such as this.Comment

The pods were put on by previous owner in the 80s with a Kerker. Original exhaust was in the attic for 25+ years. Re-installed several years ago and rejetted. Want to put an original airbox back on this winter after I round up all the parts

Airbox on those is a pain, in my opinion. Pods make sense, if you like easy access to the battery and easy carb removal. Of course, actual mileage may vary. It looks like a very nice bike. I would perfer the stock seat to the E seat, personally, but that is really being picky.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

My 1978 GS1000c was a garage find that has been a joy. 600 mile shakedown run to Indy MotoGP. Every gas stop started a conversation about old Suzukis. One guy swore Suzuki never built a GS1000 with wire wheels.Comment

Nice looking bike, and agree about finding a stock airbox. In addition to the obvious benefits of an airbox, pods don't filter the air as well as the stock filter so more dirt gets through to the engine.
BTW, there was a long thread here a while back discussing the various early GS1000 airboxes. Can't remember all the particulars but seem to remember there is more than one type with regards to the end caps or what have you. Might be worth a search if originality is important to you.Ed
