I know it's cold up there in Norway, but is there any way I could convince you to stay with the stock fairing? I know it's just a "bikini", but you'll still have the heated grips and seat.

Sure you can, I plan on putting the bike up for sale pretty soon as I want to save up for something newer so I haven't done anything more with the fairing plans. I put the heated grips on hold too for the moment untill I find out what I want to do, or I could also offer the parts along with the bike for a bump in the price but we'll see.

Been busy today; I decided to strip the paint because I think even though they are supposed to be black, a unison grey will still look better than the flaky black/grey they where. So I bought a can of paint stripper and set to work. Came out lovely I would say







These parts where pretty full of gunk too, so I chucked them in the ultrasonic cleaner and they came out nice and clean too



Carbs 1 and 2 are assembled and are waiting for num 3 and 4 which will be ready tomorrow, then I can mount them on the bike and hopefully it won't run too bad. Fingers crossed!

Fired up too, if a little bit rough but it smoothed out and tomorrow I'll try and adjust the idle mix screws and give it a few testruns

I have bench synced them, but I'm on the lookout for someone that might have a carb sync tool I can borrow so I can get them properly set up.

I went for a ride yesterday on my gs, to replace a fuse on the gsx... So I decided to take it for a little spin. And I have to say it behaved really well, pretty smooth but the noise is a little weird with the exhaust all leaking.... But overall a pleasant ride. Will hopefully improve once new exhaust gaskets and sparkplugs are installed.
Also nice to see the engine not dripping oil all over the place anymore, new gaskets does the trick

Changed the exhaust gaskets today, funny it should leak with all those gaskets in place


Needed to swap out some bolts to since they became too long with only one gasket at each pipe

It's always good to have backup seals!

Needed to remove the collector for welding a little hole, couldn't get the #1 pipe free from it no matter what I tried, doesn't matter though as the hole was in the #4 pipe

So no exhaust leaks there now.

The cam chain tensioner was locked I found out causing a whole lot of rattle in the engine. It's unlocked now and the engine sounds much healthier.

It's coming along nicely now

Great Job so far!! You have a pretty rare bike, especially in the black, gold and red. I have always wanted an ES in that paint scheme, but alas, we were not destined to get them here....

Please, keep the paint scheme - it'll always bring more money being stock than whatever your favorite color is. And it is incredibly cool too!

Seems it will be getting a new owner in a couple of weeks, a guy emailed me and we negotiated a price we can both live and he made a deposit so seems legit.

Guess I'll just have to ride it as much as I can then before it goes away.
