How to get a "What's New" feed without the Vortex, and without permanently quitting the Vortex

That colour is really nice, she is going to look super sweet.
Waiting for the next installment.

The compressor is a twin cylinder 30 gallon 10.5cfm Campbell Hausfeld. I've had this compressor for 10+ years. It's a cast iron workhorse. The compressor had no problems keeping up since the parts on this bike are small. I could shoot a complete coat of paint on most of the 5 parts without it cycling. If the compressor came on I would simply finish the piece and wait for it to stop. Usually it would stop before I had the next piece positioned and then wouldn't come on until sometime during the next coat. I had the compressor set to 135psi and then regulated it down at the gun to between 30 to 40psi depending on what I was spraying. The regulated pressure at the gun never dropped below the set point at any time.Originally posted by 850 Combat View PostThat is so incredible. What size of compressor do you have?
I think you would have no problems using an even smaller compressor. You may have to wait longer between parts, but I don't think that's an issue. Depends on the gun though. Some use a lot more air then others. I think the Harbor Freight gun I have says it uses 9.5cfm. Years ago I painted a Datsun 240z with a Binks siphon feed gun using the same compressor.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

I've got a 3.5 hp HF compressor. I'm thinking I could do a bike with it. I want to try. The Lazy Susan was great, too.Last edited by 850 Combat; 04-25-2014, 05:38 PM.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

The parts are dry and hard. Here's what she looks like before any pinstriping.:

Actually it looks more like the color of your helmet. That same OEM color is what inspired me to paint it red in the first place.Last edited by JTGS850GL; 04-26-2014, 02:02 PM.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

Remember where this all started?:

Sorry for being redundant but here are a couple pics with a different camera:

Pinstripe paint arrives on Monday. After a little practice on glass I'll give it a go on the bike parts.

I know you can. It's really not as hard as it seems. Just do your reading on how to shoot the paint, don't scrimp on the products, read all the tech literature, pay specific attention to temperatures and humidity and take your time. Above all.... Have fun with it.Originally posted by 850 Combat View PostI've got a 3.5 hp HF compressor. I'm thinking I could do a bike with it. I want to try. When that gets the pinstriping, it will be the only 1000G I know of that's prettier than the one Simon bought to tour America.Dogma
