Your bike, you do what you wish with it! I like it!

    I've got an 83 1100 that I'm planning on making into a Cafe-style.

Thanks guys, I am not worried. I like it a lot and I am not tearing it up at all. I do want to do something with the front fender, the chrome front fender that was on it just did not go with what I was wanting. I just need to get it running again. I just finished up the carbs and added a dyno jet stage 3 kit, will tweak from there.

I'd lose the side panels and make triangular stainless or polished ally ones, held on with Dzus fasteners.

I've seen worse cafes. The seat looks better than typical, but it's going to be a torture rack compared to the stocker, which is one of the most comfortable motorcycle seats in history.

The stock exhaust is worth good money if it's as nice as the photo shows.

Your rear tire looks oversize for the wheel. What size is it? The largest the stock wheel can properly support is a 130.

The rear tire is a 130/90. The seat will be great to ride on, its 2" memory foam and feels awesome. I am only 35, I have built a few bikes and ride a bit. I also ride sometimes for work. This is only a quick little project bike for fun around town.

                Thanks again guys.

Looks well thought out. Rather see a old suzuki on the road than languishing in some garage, because its too nice to ride.

it looks good, and never you mind the old farts that's stuck in their own youth, cafe isn't about taking a wreck and rebuilding it as a cafe, Caf? is about taking a original bike and making it look like a "racer" and/or handle better, and/or go faster or all of the 3 combined, the ton-up boys of old didn't wait until they crashed the bike before they made cafe racer out of it now did they?

And my mama told me if you don't have anything nice to say, then keep quiet.

That looks awesome. Im curious to see how you did the fender section and so fourth. I'll be doing the same on my 83 450

Well, your original blue stocker looked better than it actually was so good for you. I'd sell that boring stock exhaust for a header and meg (I like ceramic coating the header). I like your seat, and if it's comfortable then it's perfect. As long as you're not keeping it stock, I'd really go for it and make something different but nice. Bike EXIF and all those European cafe sites will give you lots of ideas. The Japanese probably have some great ideas too. Enjoy it.
