    '82 1100 Kat Resto mod

    Hi Guys and Gals

I am new here and don't get on very often but I have a '82 1100 Kat that i will be putting together. I got the bike in the fall and it is completely apart. I also got a whole bunch of GS 1100 parts which I will likely be selling because I have no use for them. The bike came with a 'Busa Swingarm with extensions which I have pulled off and have for sale locally. It also had a compete GS 500 front which I have also pulled off and will be selling.

What I have done so far is not much but to gather some parts. I have a '93 GSXR 1100 Front end going on and just purchased a compete 2003 1200 Bandit rear. From what I have read and chatted it a few guys is the Gixxer front end is a pretty much a drop in and go with maybe a different triple clamp. The bandit rear will have the dual shock mounts installed because I dont want a Mono Shock set up.

Anyway, if anyone has already done this and has some tips or things I need to look out for, please drop me a line. I am n the Toronto area. My email address is Dcreswicke@gmail.com

    Here is my starting point...Drew

    Welcome to the site, Drew.
What has been done to the engine?
With a swinger like that i would expect the p.o. was heading to the strip?

The engine is supposed to be stock. The bike was actually raced at Shannonville circuit for a number of years but then he decided to try and build a Drag bike but then gave up.

Welcome, and good luck with the project. Glad you're losing that silly swingarm.

          Katman in BC can help.

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.

              Thanks Guys

I have to dig through the extra parts stuff and try and figure out what I have and what its worth. Mostly small stuff but I did find a nice '81 Cluster, Front cowl and a side panel. I also have a decent looking crank and an extra set of carbs but don't know what size they are..

Is Katman in BC Rob Wilton?

Yes, Steve Rideout. He used to have the Turbo Kat. He will be helping me with my build because I have never done this before and I am in uncharted territory lol.

Having seen the beauties that came out of his garage, you are in good hands.
