Petcock is off eBay from Honda east Toledo
$87 shipped.... Couldn't find any correct used ones to rebuild....so...
Rear shocks.... I'll try and see what the snowmobile guys up north can do for me. All the shock places I tried to contact would have nothing to do with the shocks, or wanted $200 just to chrome one shaft...and that's with me taking the shock apart and rebuilding it myself afterward.
There is a guy in Japan that does KYB shocks and can get parts factory direct. Rebuild/rechrome them at a very good price...The shocks I have were Japanese home market only shocks, so he knows what they are, while no one here on my side has ever seen them before...
I think I have a close enough match for the paint, that it will work on a fender now... If I don't forget to bring the fender into work, might have it done by Friday too. And if it's close enough, I'll send the sprayout card out for some reference.Last edited by Guest; 11-15-2016, 07:44 PM.Comment

Yes the 77/78 750 petcocks are the same as the 78/79 1000 tanks. I have 750 petcocks on my 1000s and other than the nipple arrangements its the same exact petcock.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I can see it's the exact same casting. But it looks like the fuel line will rub on the carb, as it exits directly into the slide (if the 750 tap is the same as the 1000G) . Unless I could find some prebent fuel line with a sharp 90 that I could adapt. Or drill out the the casting on the proper side, put the nipple on that side, and tap and run a set screw plug in original hole... I guess there are options... All I know is all my 1000s hav VM carbs and none of them have any problems using the 750 taps. Mabe you can rotate the back plate if your concerned about close clearance???MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Not much room for my hose
The back plate isn't a problem, the main line out is.
Not much more than 3/4 inch from outlet to carb body... I tried my other tap after JB weld, and it still drips a bit around the lever... Think I'll try and find a fuel line that has a tight 90 that I can adapt to the new tap. The fuel line I have rubs the carb body, and looks like it would want to kink a bit if the line got soft from the hot engine.
I can make it work, but it has to look right, which is the problem at the moment.Comment

The soft copper could possibly work. I did that on my carb bowl vents after I removed the hoses as a part of the jet kit install. I didn't like the idea of open nipples just facing straight up and the possibility of dirt falling in them. I made small u bends and attached them with hose as Chuck noted.
Or what about that metal spring looking material that slips over the line to prevent kinking? Sorry for the poor description, I dont know what its called. ...sigpic
