    3,703 mile 1981 450L

    Drug it home for just 300 bucks. Needs the usual brakes gone through, new brake fluid resoviour, tank had gas in it so that saved it from dry rotting from the inside out. Needs a seat cover, new chain, headlight bulb, 1 front turn signal, and the rubber signal mount cushions. Decent overall condition. I will take pics soon as it stops raining and i can roll it outside. Has original paint but the clear is peeling so it will get a repaint.

      Side covers and tank stripped and primed. Gonna shoot the blue tomorrow after work. Then a shot of clear before applying the pinstripe tape Saturday and Sunday. Got the new side cover badges in the other day so they will look amazing when done.

            Got some color on the parts tonight. Wet sand tomorrow at some point and shoot a clear coat in prepperation for doing the pinstriping.

              Got the first shot of clear applied. Gonna wet sand that this afternoon at some point, lay another coat and let it set till tomorrow morning. Then when satisfied with them I will be laying on pinstripes. This will be my first time doing actual pinstripe off a roll and having to make the corners and all that so wish me well. All the other stuff i have done I had precut decal kits for..not this time though!!!

                Did you do that with rattle cans, Chuck? Looks like lots of dark spots in it. They're gonna stand out like sore thumbs with clear. Normally I wouldn't say anything, but your skills as a painter have advanced enough that I thought I would comment. Fogging a couple of light coats of blue, front to back w/o stopping would remedy the look.

                  Camera lens was dirty as all get out Larry..I saw that too but the pics were already taken and i had gone thru the Photobucket crap already. I assure you its uniform and spotless top to bottom.

                      Carb orings came in and carb mounted tonight. Had to short across the selinoid to crank it but it fired up. ran maybe 5 minutes and sounds like its still new.

                        Cleaned all the connectors and installed another left front turn signal this morning. Got all the electrical working as it should. Next will be fork seals and rebuilding the front brakes. I have a new fluid resivoir and new caliper seal and piston in hand. Maybe by this afternoon I can ride it for the first time.

                        I also will cop to being absent minded on the issue of why the starter button wouldnt work. After disassembling the switch and cleaning all the contacts it still wouldnt crank the bike over.

                        HOWEVER..if one squeezes the clutch lever in so the clutch safety switch works that dammmm starter button works every time!!!! LOL

                            Fork seals and caliper rebuild done. But in my ordering spree I had forgot the new brake pads. Email says they were shipped today so 3 or 4 days till I can bleed the front brakes.
