82 GS1100E rebuild
Well while looking for a donor motor or bike for the dragbike found this wounded one for $1200 and went for it. Got her home and kind of fell in love, I just couldn't stand not to save her so she went down to the bare frame. Motor was hurt, it came apart but had potential, under cut trans, welded crank and clutch basket, lightly ported head, cylinders looked good, 1134 pistons were junk, several stripped bolts and studs. Took the motor to Klemme Performance Motorcycle and had the top end rebuilt, fresh 1134 kit and went through the head, degreed the cams, picked up a set of old school 33 smoothbores and a new Dyna ignition, coils and wires. Fuel valve was leaking, installed a Pingel dual outlet valve. Stripped the frame, removed a few brackets, cleaned up a few welds and painted her black. Wire harness was a butchered up mess so we eliminated it and gave her a fresh, minimal wire job with a Pingel kill switch. The paint is ok for now and someone must have been a Honda fan, they added a spoiler type lip on the tail section... weird. Hopefully this winter I can have her painted, including removing the spoiler thing and fixing the broken tabs on the side panels. She's together for now but might come back apart soon for some changes or updates, not sure witch way or how far to go with this one. I'm not to good with loading pic's, so i'll see how this goes. Here she is as purchased.Tags: None -

all apart, got the frame painted... benefit of working at a car dealer with a body shop, cost me 2 30 packs for the paint job.IMG_0979.jpgComment

Glad to see another 1100e saved. The Honda-esque spoiler isn't as bad as I pictured when I read about it- it looks to be well done.
I see a Kat in the background......sigpic

the Kat is my drag bike that I've owned for 31 years, just regained interest and need a motor for her, that's what stemmed this purchase, but the Kat will have to wait a lil longer... did just get the new airtech front fairing for it though, time to mount it up! IMG_0800.jpgComment

Removed the anti dive, welded up the air holes, replaced the seals and filled with fluid... forks are too soft. I'll either try heavier fluid or new springs to stiffen her up. This is how I found this awesome site, did a search for anti dive block off plates and found a thread from here. IMG_1142.jpgComment

IMG_1144.jpg Time for wiring, decided to remove the cluster and keep the wiring to a minimum, pingel kill switch for the occasional trip to the drag strip, did retain the key also since she will see light street duty. Might either mount just a tach and shift light or maybe a small cluster?Comment
