My ultimate GS750 build hope u guys like .... fixed with pics heavy

Ive been working on this bike for 3 years
I have actually replaced every bolt with 316 stainless from McMaster Carr
im a fabricator and I want to do this for people as my shop rebuilds bikes all the time...
i just am not on any forums and I wanted to post my bike somewhere cause I want people's opinion..
ive worked on this bike almost everyday all summer as I finnaly purchased all my electronics cause they were very very pricey... my controls were $300 alone for 6 buttons
my Ect was $450
ignition $150
dyna was $400
please don't think I am bragging restores can cost way more !!
ect it took me a while to save up to buy everything

Looks like a very nice project.
However dear Lad, some of our serious restorers will be disappointed that you posted so much progress in just a short time.
Seems like the thing to do here is; drag the project out for years , with many-many tedious photos of every individual nut and bolt painstakingly polished and restored. Never finishing the damn bike, no hurry for a test ride and tuning.

it doesn't open gas tank but it turns the bike on


not a fan of this exhaust I'm building a new one this winter
this will do for now i just need to powder coat the bracket i made for it

yes everything is on the left side of bike
button lay out is
lights (tap for flash to pass hold 0.5 sec for highs hold for 2 seconds off) garage door opener
left signal right signal
start button horn

the really tiny circle near the rear tail light is the proximity sensor for the M lock
chain is
16 47 i made a custom spacer for the 520 front sprocket with a cnc
enjoy more to come

i should finish the kick stand this weekend just needs powder coated but my wife just gave birth to our second baby so progress has slowed a little bike

and that rear brake fluid reservoir is a factory honda part that works very well when i bleed rear brakes ill re post pics

GSXR1100 (any oil cooled iteration) will fit but will require new motor mounts as its smaller (and a lot lighter) - If you are going that route, one tip is to get an early cam cover as it has a much reduced breather box which will allow easier access to cams and valve gear

ANY GS1100 iteration will fit straight into your frame only requiring the bottom engine mounts to be changed ( available online)

I'm just about to tear down my dry build 82 750E which will feature one of the above motors (I have both in my garage spares mountain)

Dont ignore the option of a 1200 Bandit engine (97-2007 oil cooled variant)which are readily available and also fit as they're an oil boiler GSXR11 variant

To sum up -With oil cooled motors the primary issues are - engine mount brackets and exhaust system fitment

Im not a huge cafe fan, I LOVE restomods, and yours has enough of that to make me smile. Also, its nice not to see another poorly built sawzall, duct tape, and glue cafe bike.

Lots of inspiration for me as I have an -81 that is going a similar route.
I will use a complete Bandit1200 front end on mine though as i like the conventional forks on older bikes. I already have sourced the same swingarm as you and I was thinking of using a Bandit600 rear wheel, 4.5 inches wide. Will that fit you think? Which rear wheel did you use? Looks like a Bandit or SV wheel.

Rear wheel is of a 2005 GSXR 750
its wide im running a 160 tire
i have a 530 conversion if u are interested
running 520 I needed a little more clearance
thank u for all the complements guys
it's like a dream come true for me to get this bike done and done right
I'm pretty sure the GSXR WHEEL I'm using is 4.5
its a very close fit
the only issues were
the large Axel in rear had to modify the drop outs and figureing out what chain to run

Rear wheel is of a 2005 GSXR 750

The rear wheel on the 2005 750 is a 5.5". I don't think any top shelf sport bike has used a 4.5" rear since the late 90's.

that explains how tight of a fitment it is i never measured i got a really good deal on everything couldn't pass it up

Bike looks great. There are oil cooled engine mount templates floating around between here and the oldskoolsuzuki site.

If its a 5.5" a 160 tire is too narrow and would be warped, 150-160 is normal on a 4.5" wheel. I have a 5.5" on my Bandit1200 and the standard tire on that wheel is a 180 which is way too wide for the GS1100 swingarm.

If you are using a 160 then thats great news for me, then I will go ahead and get a 4.5" B6 or SV650 wheel, they come standard with a 160 section rear tire.

You should consider moving the voltage regulator to the underside for better cooling.

I'd like to see how you have air moving through the area to cool. Neatly tucked in there is good. Nice build with very nice components!
