Just finished my 82' GS1100E resto-mod.

I have had this bike for about 3 years now and finally got around to getting everything fixed and the way I want it.
1982 GS1100E
Specs:

Powertrain: 1198 MTC big bore kit with new MTC sleeves, .345" lift Vance & Hines cams, 28.5mm/24mm stainless valves, Web Cams valve springs, titanium kibble white retainers, balanced/welded/polished big end crank by Falicon, polished/shot-peened rods, MLS custom thickness head gasket (10.5:1 CR), Kerker full exhaust, Falicon forged clutch basket, updated Suzuki inner clutch hub, Barnett clutches, high volume oil pump gears, Lochart oil cooler, undercut tranny gears by Murdoch Racing, APE manual cam chain tensioner, GS1150 intake boots, and K&N pods.

Chassis: Progressive front fork springs, anti-dive delete, fork brake, Works Performance rear coil-overs, Shindy steering stabilizer, GS1150 wheels.

Other mods: 83' model 140mph speedo, Stainless braided brake lines with clear protective cover (no scratching the paint), Pingel high-flow chrome fuel petcock, Pingel high-flow cleanable fuel filter, Dyna 2000 ignition with Dyna coils/wires, chrome oil breather catch can w/filter & drain mounted below seat, EGT gauge for monitoring exhaust temps, Dyna shift light, underglow lighting kit, smoked aluminum stalk turn signals (still very bright), Compu-fire R/R, CRG bar-end mirrors.

Unless you pay a bunch of money.

Yes, I know you can't see them on this page but if you click on the picture it should take you to the album containing all of the pictures. At least it works on my phone that way and I am no longer logged into photobucket and it still opens up the pictures.

and a long list of parts. How does it perform ? I'm most curious about the triple digit speed stability. I'm not suggesting you go out and exceed the speed limit but just by chance if your cruising along at 7K RPM in 5th Id be interested in how planted it feels.

Thanks! They are supposed to be Works Performance from way back when (previous owner installed them). They have adjustable compression damping by turning the top collar to 4 different places. They have a sticker on the top in gold lettering saying "adjustable damping". Are they actually stock? And the carbs are Mikuni VM33 smoothbores (brand new). I tuned it with a wideband 02 sensor and synced with a carb pro 4. Runs absolutely 100% perfect. Idles great, great throttle response, and cruises smooth. 135 main, 17.5 idle, needle clip in 2nd most rich position, idle air bleeds 1 turn out, 0.6 main jet air bleed, 1.5 throttle slide valves, and fuel height set with clear tube 3mm below very top of bowl gasket surface.

Thanks! It performs very good. I have taken it to 150-160mph before with no problems. This is with good alignment, good tires, and the mods I have listed under Chassis. It has no weave or wobble. I have landed wheelies in 3rd gear at over 100mph at the drag strip and it does not wobble at all. I think the fork brace is what really helps. The best time I have ran so far is a 10.62 at 130mph but that was before the restoration and I could have done better as it was not the best launch I could have done. I am hoping for 10.4 or so when I go back out this next weekend. Would be pretty good with the factory size rear tire I think.

Sweet ride. I can't imagine running that much power through the flexi-flyer chassis and the skinny bias ply tire, but enjoy!

I see all of them just fine using the photobucket fix for Chrome.

Sorry, but those are the stock shocks. Damping adjustment is for rebound.

Not sure how wide the wheel is. The rear is tubeless and is 17". The front is a 19" wheel. It has Metzeler Lasertec tires.

19” front is an 1100. 1100/1150e rear wheels look the same, but I think in 85 it switched from 3” wide to 3.5. It will be cast into the rim if you really want to know.
