    So today i rebuilt the carbs and polished them up a bit with the dremel and some tooth paste....yes im doing that redneck voodoo stuff again...lol. Did a few other things as well.





    Bondo filling in some hammer marks suffered while beating them flat again........

      Yesterday was rebuild the calipers and front master cylinder. Then got after the nasty rims. Degreased then and wet sanded them with wet / dry 400 grit. Today will be paint rims, inner fender brace, and license plate holder..

        Today i knocked the old wheel bearings out and prepped and painted the rims. I start with electrical tape to mask off the beads and cover the rest with green painters tape. Same tape over spokes and trim with a utility knife. There will be a little paint leaking under tape edges but some rolled up paper towel and lacquer thinner takes care of that problem.

            Im getting there. This time will be on a seat pan. Nothing to see there...seen one thing on fire youve seen it all.

              Today i took gauges apart to clean gauge faces and the glass from the inside and put those back together. Then took wheel bearings out and ran to the local supply house and got 4 more and installed them. Took rims and new tires to my buddies place ( he lets me use his machine ) and mounted tires. I am a firm advocate for Dyna Beads so that what they got. I gotta run to Hobby Lobby for a little bottle of Testors white model paint to redo the lettering on the gauges. I will post pics of that when i do it.

                Soon as i find my camera...again, ill update with some pics. Today i did fork seals and polished the lowers, installed the wire harness,swapped out back rim and cleaned up the sprocket hub and all the hardware, applied Power Seal to all the bolts and newly exposed raw metals, and wrapped all the loose spots on the harness where it started to unwrap itself with some electrical tape, and mounted the gauges temporarily. IM TIRED!!!!

                  Maybe we could get you one of those straps that you attach your glasses to so your camera can just hang off your neck till it's needed.. Seriously though, Chuck..you're moving right along with this project. We'll look forward to the updated pics.

                      I found the camera but had noone to shoot a video..so ill just try to explain best i can. What youll need is a new pencil so the eraser is day one perfect and some TESTORS white enamel model paint. Dump a few drops of paint on a piece of paper or cardboard. Now wet the eraser end with paint then blot excess away leaving just a thin layer of paint. Dab the eraser dead flat on top of the raised letters.

                      Have some Qtips and a cap of laquer thinner..or something else tat wont eat plastic in case you have too much paint on the eraser. Too much and paint will run and fill in where you dont want it. No biggy, just wipe it clean and do it again but blot the eraser a little drier. If you can find something old with raised letters then practice on that before going at gauges. The eraser is basically a ink stamp but with paint.

                      For comparison.....



                      Done....maybe not as good as day one but from 3 ft you cant tell...lol

                            if its worth anything to you, i had some orange from doing needle tips in gauges and practiced with that on the lettering on a gallon jug of paint stripper. you know, that plastic childproof crap lid.
