    Nice work with the welding and your assemble while on vacay.

    I believe I have the same front end...maybe from the 1982 model. I would like to swap the single disc on my "T" for the dual...we shall see what the future brings.

    Great write up with pics. Thanks for sharing.

      I believe your battery light is on because the bike originally kept track of the electrolyte level. So it's telling you you're low!

        Does your new batt have the sensor on it? they are getting harder to find with a sensor. Never thought they were worth much anyway, only monitored one of the 6 cells electrolyte level. What are the odds that the one the sensor is in will be the one that gets low first? Mine don't have a batt. with sensor. I have a wire with female plug connected to the hot side of my batt. for charging. I plug the male plug on the wire on my bike that goes to the warning light to this hot wire to batt. & warning light never comes on. Congrats on your progress. Great to hear that first start up ain't it?

          No sensor on the battery. I went with a sealed AGM battery. Going to dig into that issue later.

          Got a little more work done today. Checked the charging system, replaced a few turn signal bulbs, installed the rear brake pedal and right side footpeg. Then I cut some ABS and fabbed some replacement brackets for the rear cowl and epoxied them in place.

          Then I switched the handlebars. I went with a black LTD bar that I got from Dennis Kirk. Wanted a more upright riding position and I think these will do the trick! Of course I had to replace the front brake hose, luckily I had a stainless line that was a good fit! Then I bled the front and rear brakes.

          After that, I decided it was time to do something with the tank, so I prepped it for sealer. Hope to get it sealed tomorrow and then it's on to bodywork and paint.

            More work on the "pig" today! Got the tank sealed and the underside painted. Probably the worst tank I have ever attemted to bring back to life! It was wet and cold outside, so I had to bring it inside to dry!

            Ordered the decal set and the 2K clear. Still have some finish sanding to do on the top where the hole was repaired, then I'll spray the rest.

              It's amazing how much work I used to get done in the laundry room. Nice and warm, metal 'tables,' slop sink, can't hear anybody calling.

                  Very nice work sir. At this rate, you might have time for another winter project before spring!

                  Your often daily progress serves to remind me that my Bandit project has not progressed beyond the first heli-coil, however, Thanksgiving is coming...

                      Started the paint on the "pig" today. Went with a bright red instead of the usual pink with black spots that you see on most pigs!
                      Got a coat on the front fender.

                      And the real cowl.

                      And got a coat on the tank and the first wet-sand done on it.

                      Lots more sanding and painting to go before I can think about applying decals.

                      The side covers were coated on the inside with a nice thick coat of burnt engine oil, (it was a leaker!) so I degreased them and filled four zip-tie holes that the PO so nicely installed on each one. Waiting on the epoxy to cure before I start on them.

                        Got it all the same color!

                        Finally got the side cover holes filled and sanded. At least I have all the bodywork the same color!



                        Still have some spots on the tank that need reworking, then its another wet-sand and another color coat.

                              Finally got the decals on today.



                              Now in a couple of days I can spray some clear on to make it shine!

                              Then a little buffing, repair some sidecover tabs, then its time to finally put it together.

                              And yes the parts "are" in my spare bedroom! Friggin garage is COLD!
