GS1150 New Purchase

Just got this bike and there is something preventing turning engine al the way round. It s like something is blocking a valve or something. Any suggestions to try and locate? The guy had the carbs off, someone could have slipped something in the intake Didn't see anything down the spark plug holes..

Well at least take the valve cover off for a look see. Cylinder head will be next in any case.
