    Boots!?

    Hey guys,

I haven't been riding a lot lately, but now I'm on holidays its time to put some kilometres on the girl...

I just wanted to get opinions on riding boots. How important are they? What shoes do you guys wear? what can you recommend?
and why do most riding boots have to look like ****!!?!?

I mean, would i be any worse off riding in some Redwings that look ace made from quality leather like these, or should i get some of those chunky black s&m 'riding boots'

I'm embarassed to say I wear black running shoes with a non skid sole.
Someday I'll get some over the ankle psuedo combat boots, as long as they're lightweight, preferably with a zipper instead of all the lacing.
Something like this, maybe not as tall.

The things you want to look for in a riding boot is ankle support and protection. If you just wear regular shoes you have neither.

I have a set and they are nice; prices seem to have come up a bit through.

Don't have any actual pictures of my Redwings, but this is what they look like in the catalog:

By the way, they are also my work boots, church boots, general wear boots and more.

I wear Dr Martin Case boots:

Or Dr Martin Steven which are a similar boot but I can't find a photo at the moment.

I alternate the pairs and wear them to work all day, love Doc's coz they're so comfy all the time.

I've got the same boots and really like them. They were crash tested a while ago and came through with only minor scuffing. My feet and ankles were fine.

I've got a similar pair and love them, though mine are insulated and waterproof.

I'm looking for a lighter pair for summer and am considering these.
