I went over to the Ulster Gran Prix in 2011 and the Armoy "Race of Legends" in 2015 and had a great time at both. Weather makes or breaks the meet. I have a friend who I met here (GSR) who took me to the races once I got over. His house seems to burnt to the ground last night and I may need to make other plans in 2022 for the UGP 100th meeting.Originally posted by limeex2 View PostI would love to go to the IOM, but I figure to do it without a "tour guide" it would be tough for a first timer. I went to the NW200 this year with my wife and a buddy and his GF. It was also a substitute for the IoM due to difficulties finding accommodation and stupendous pricing of everything at the IoM. Had no local guidance for the NW200 but I did get some decent advice from people on an email list I am on. It was no issue to book accommodation, prices were reasonable and the people all around the area were very friendly and helpful. As Charlie G says, the weather is a big unknown and can really mess the works up. It was about 50/50 for us, with great weather all week, including the Thursday races, but rain and crap on the Saturday that significantly affected the racing. IMO, overall it was a great experience and very worth the trip despite the weather issues.Originally posted by limeex2 View PostI would love to go to the IOM, but I figure to do it without a "tour guide" it would be tough for a first timer.
