    lower front forks

Here is a way to lower your front forks for the price of fork oil. First you take the fork tubes out of the trees, then loosen the bottom allen screw at the bottom of the fork legs i beleive it is 7 mm USE METRIC ALLEN ONLY!!!!!!!! after taking it loose let the oil drain out or if your impatient take the top nut off that holds the springs in. Take out the springs and all the insides. you will get to the bottom and find a rebound spring on a metal rod. Cut a piece of PVC thick walled pipe to 2inch or 3inches, (if your working on 750 you'll have to cut the PVC down the middle length wise with a dremal tool so it will fit back in the fork tubes). put the pvc inbetween the the rebound spring and the top of the rodds head. Slide everything back the way it was and you will notice the spring will not go all the way in, make sure to cut the spring only enough to get it in the tube or you will have the same mushiness you had before. depending on the length of pvc you cut will detremine how much lowwer your bike is 2 inch means the forks are 2inches lower. at the end you will have a stiffer and lower bike, but not too stiff. If you want to ad an air adjustment just get the air up head and thread it into your fork nut that holds the springs in. THIS IS A NON REVERSABLE TASK! unless its for a gs 550 or smaller.
