Jb Weld And Gasoline

FWIW, Six years ago, on my '79 Suzuki GS-1000L I was in Shelton Washington and snagged a branch on the side of a dirt trail I was riding on. The branch got under the left side of the tank and tore the copper tube out of the petcock. I laid the bike down on its right side on top of my rain gear and used JB Weld (JB QUICK actually) to glue the tube back in.

Six years and many thousands of miles the JB Weld is doing fine. I've used it in many places and prefer the regular slow cure stuff but all I had in the saddlebags was the "quick" stuff and was darn glad to have it.

I'd have to say that the racer referred to in the post that complained about gas dissolving JB Weld must have been running nitro.

Well folks,
I wrote JB weld and asked them if it was OK to use with Gasoline.
This was their response.

"Thank you for your email. The surface area needs to be clean and dry of gasoline when applying J-B Weld. Once set it is not affected at all by
gasoline."
