rusted and stuck gas cap tip.

The GS1100 I bought recently had a stuck-on gas cap, I was worried about twisting off my only key and tried all of the penetrating oils, Next I checked the youtube videos. Most of them involved destruction of some sort. I decided to pull the tank, remove the petcock and drain what rusty gas was in there. Then I turned the tank over above a storage tote and poured a gallon of evaporust into it through the petcock hole. It seeped through the vent and every hour or so I re-filled the tank from the tote. After 5 hours of that, I tried the key again and the cap came right off.

Now look up KIWI CANNUK and have him redo the cylinder. Those springs and waffers are dangerously weak by now from rust. Plus youll need a new oring at the base of the cylinder.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
