The problem? Speedometer sticks.
Solution? Lubrication.
Item Needed? Spray silicone lubricant.
Time to finish? One to two Beer's.
And just how did I figure this out?
By destroying a coveted 140MPH 1978 GS1000 speedo.
Not to worry, it gave it's life so others could live.
A noble death indeed.
- Remove headlight.
- Remove the center plastic cover from the rear of the guages.
- Remove the the chrome cover on the rear of the speedometer. While you're in there, replace any blown bulbs. Part# 1445 (your welcome)
- Remove the two small screws in the very center.

- This is where you need to spray the silicone. In those small screw holes. You do still have the straw that came with the can, right?
- The idea is to lubricate this. See that little thing in the center that looks like the tip of a ball point pen? That's what we're aiming at.
-

- If you're lucky, your silicone made it to it's mark. (cross your fingers)
- Button it back up and go for a ride.
