I was wondring if anyone out there knows what the major difference is between a 1983 and a 1982 gs550l motor, it seems all of the after market exhaust companies stop at the 1982 gs550L and no one seems to know why? can anyone help, I am looking at a 4 to 1 pipe and was wondering if it will fit, thx Randy

in short 83 has more valves and higher compression, the 83 has a diffrent size head.
i ask this would a 83 550 head fit a earlier model 550 block/jugs
