Electrical socket in the trunk

Hi,
I took an "inline" socket that used to be part of a "Y" adapter and mounted it behind my windshield and under the right side of the handlebar. It was a quick fix about ten years ago to keep my cell phone charged up or to run a radar detector (which I velcro-ed to the top of the instrument cluster) and I tapped the main headlight wiring to keep the run short.
In order to protect it against rain I simply pointed the socket down -- the original molding already sealed the wires as they enter the socket.
Doing it again now I would run a separately fused wire to the battery but after all these years it still works fine. Only problem is that I lose power when I use the brights. 8)Comment
