Need a Rear Brake Master Cylinder Rebuild Kit

    Hello, all.

My 1983 GS 850 GL rear master cylinder is in need of a rebuild.

I'm having trouble deciphering all of the different offerings online.

Does anyone know which years and models might be compatible?

Can anyone offer a resource or two?

    Thanks!

What online sources have you checked? Have you checked Suzuki OEM parts availability? Partszilla? Part Shark? Near as I can tell, Suzuki still sells the parts you need.

Just realize, if the aluminum bore of the master is corroded/pitted, you can't rebuild it. Inspect after breakdown, before spending money.

You didn't mention it, but wondering if you have symptoms, or just figure after 43 yr. it deserves it.

I used an EX300 Ninja rear master on mine as the bore was shot. I imagine a lot of them are these days. It looks like a DL650 one might work too. It wasn't a straight bolt-on, there is a post on here about it somewhere.

I was able to source a rear brake master cylinder rebuild kit from my local Suzuki dealer. The kit part number is 69600-45820. That number appears to cover a number of model years

Thanks, all, for the info and advice.

This is not a preemptive rebuild. It definitely went out. I haven't pulled the assembly yet, so not sure how the bore it. Since it was working until recently, I have hope the bore will come up.

I found the kit by searching the part number provided by Syd Great help!!

Most places wanted $40-50 but I found it for half that at an outfit called 4into1, in case anyone else is seeking.

I'm not on forums as much these days, but I will make an effort to report back with my findings, both with the kit and my assembly.
