Started to bleed the front and when I pulled on the lever (to pump brakes)brake fluid actually squirted up and out of the reservoir. There was still fluid in the reservoir, so I topped it off and put back the lid to rethink this.

I have a gs850 1982. Bled the back brake and things went great.

They do that, when the piston first starts to move. Usually the lid is on or the fluid in the reservoir is too deep, so it's not a problem.
Go easy on the lever at first. -
