The GS1000 17" rear wheels are readily available and are wider than your 18" - check ebay. Nice upgrade since you can run a 130 rear tire on the 17 but 120 is the max size with an 18.

Try one from an L

The GS550L also had a 17" rear wheel, with the same casting pattern as the E and a disc brake.
