What is #10 fork oil?

Im reading the manual and buying the stuff I need to change fork oil and seals on my 85 700E. It says use #10 fork oil so what would that be? 5W; 10W; 15W??

haha no but seriously you can get fork oil at any bike shop 10 is the weight or viscosity of the oil.

I do not know what differs in motro oil and fork oil except that fork oils smells good enough to eat.

Likely less heat oriented materisl and more anti-foam stuff in it.

I use PJ1 or other name brand fork oils, changed once every couple years and I use a 30w.

Unfortunately it's not that simple. #10 and 10 wt are not always the same thing. You need to either by #10 suzuki fork oil or find out from the bottle or Suzuki what weight it actually is. That goes for all brands. Unless it specifically says on the bottle that it is 10 wt. it isn't neccesarily 10 wt. 10 wt is an SAE standard that has to be met before it can say 10 wt. Manufacturers that don't want to pay for the SAE testing to comply with the standard will not be able to put 10 wt on the bottle so the use their own numbering system. #10 might be 10 wt, but it doesn't have to be.

That might be, but the bottom line is that his bike will work just fine with 10w fork oil, regardless of what was originally specified.
