    How to shorten front shocks

I have 1.5-2 inches between the top of my shocks and the bottom of my forks. Can i drop the clamps on my shocks 1.5 inches right before they hit my handlebars? Is there a side affect for doing that

you can try it no problem. just take it for a careful ride afterwards and see how it feels

The more you lower the front end of a bike, the more the geometry gets thrown off. So try to lower the front through the clamps about. 5" first- then take it for a ride and see if the steering is too "quick".

Also, if you have spoked wheels, you can lace up a smaller hoop instead of sliding the forks up.
