Fit a 14" Progressive "Eye to Eye" to my 79?

I found a set of fairly inexpensive NOS Progressive shocks that look to be in good shape 14 inch eye to eye. They are performance replacement shocks for a 70 Laverda 750SC (which I just looked up awesome bike BTW). Anyway I would like to buy them but didn't know if an "eye to Eye" shock can be made to fit my GS750. I know the stock shocks have the one end that fits over either side of the swing arm like a square with the bottom open end. Curious though If I could just run a bolt through the swing-arm and then mount the bolt after making sure they are installed straight (adding spacers to the top bolt to get the shocks perfect).
I'm looking for a sportier, stiffer rear end and maybe a slight rise in ride height if anything(.5in to 1in would be great)...
    Thoughts? Suggestions?
    Thanks!

Yes, it can be done. Is it cost effective? No. You will be far better off finding a set of eye to clevis and just bolting them on rather than cutting and welding on your swingarm.

Awesome thanks for hitting me back! Browsing the Ebay now for Shocks that will fit my bike but I keep running into RFY Shocks??? They are suppose to fit and for $99 a pair cheap and look pretty nice, but not sure if they are any good? Looking for a tight shock, with a stock to slight rise in height, most I'm coming across (except the RFY) are shorter then stock...

In your price range most go with MDI shocks.
