Front axle spacers... parts fiche right or wrong??

Need some clarification here, folks...

'80 GS1000 parts fiche indicates that the two right-side front axle spacers (part #'s 7 and 8 below) have 'flanges' facing away from each other. When i tried this setup the front wheel was in a bind. I then reversed spacer #8 and all seemed well.

So... is it me, the parts fiche, or am I missing something here??

Youve got a factory service manual...what does it say about front wheel/axle assembly??? Probably has some good pics too.

There should be only one spacer on each side and the shoulder goes toward the rim on each side..if i remember things correctly.

Service manual shows spacer shoulder/flange facing outward on E/S model, but toward wheel on C model. Hmmm...

Guess just go with what works in this case. Verdict: parts fiche WRONG.

All but the last one, have gone well past 100 safely.
Hope that helps and sorry but no '80 models to be found around here.

I've heard/seen other issues not congruent with parts fiche. Case solved!
