    Lowering my GS850

Hello Everyone, I am a past member, but it has been along time since I posted or been on the site (I had to start all over again, I forgot my log on info) anyway, I have given trusted 1978 GS850 with less that 2400 miles on it to my son. He is shorter in the legs then me and is having a hard time getting use to the stance of the bike. Has anyone lowered thier GS? I am looking to get about 3". It looks like I will have to install some risers and then change the back shocks. Any suggestions?

    Get a 450.

He's either too short or he's a beginner, either way he doesn't need the overweight oversized behemoth that is the GS 850.

Life is too short to ride an L.

      Hi,

Yes, there are ways. But I agree with Mr. tkent02. Start your son on a smaller bike. You won't be sorry.

        I agree 1,000%
Find something that weighs at least 100 pounds lighter.

Does the bike have crash bars?

cut the seat down, I have a seat that was cut down by the previous owner, does make a difference.
