Change tire; now no brakes

I had the strangest thing happen yesterday. I pulled the rear wheel off my 79 GS850 (single rear disk) and put a new tire on her. I put it back together, just like it was, and when I went down my driveway to test the new tire I had the unpleasant surprise of no rear brake. I fiddled with it a little, trying to bleed it to no avail, but I ran out of time.

So anyway, have any of you ever had this happen? If so, what was the cause?

If you did your tire change like the rest of us, you had to squeeze the caliper a bit to get it away from the disk, then to get it back in place. You then should have stepped on the brake pedal a time or three to get the pads back to their "normal" position against the disk. No bleeding necessary, just step on the pedal a few times.

Well, mystery solved. The master cylinder convieniantly decided to freeze up at the exact same time that I changed my tire. Now pulled it apart and think I put it back together wrong after the parts flew all over the garage floor, but that's a topic for a new post....
