If you have close to a 1/2" of clearance now between the sidewall and the swingarm that's more than enough room. 1/4" or less and you won't get it in there. Even 3/8" could be tight depending on manufacturer.

I just checked and i have 5/8" on swingarm side but only 3/8" on driveshaft side and the rim is 2.75 wide but im still not sure it would fit.

If you have 3/8" I think you can squeeze it in there.
