    Front brake disk runout

    Hi all,

This is about my 1990 GSX1100F, but I am asking here because the members understand terms like dial gauge and runout. The bike has floating front disks.

At very low speeds - rolling to a stop - with very light front brake pressure, the bike surges. By that I mean it feels like I am changing the pressure on the brakes. To me this seems like warped disks.

I measured the runout on the outside of the disks and got 0.05 and 0.035 inch. The manual says the max is 0.1. That seems like a lot to me.

Do the runout and problem description match? Am on the right track?

Also I have some used replacement disks. Any suggestions for bench testing the runout? I would like to know their condition before I swap them in.

    Thanks.
