Wow Clancey, glad you got home safe with that! Hopefully you can get a good tyre on by Thursday if your back's up for it... I'd go and buy a lotto ticket if I was you! -

I used to examine tires returned from service, and never saw one like that. The center of the tread doesn't have any junctions in it that are easily susceptible to failure.
It also doesn't look as if an object scored the tread surface while the tire was rotating. The crack/slit isn't straight enough. I wouldn't want to guess at a cause without seeing the bike it was on, and cutting the tire apart. Chemical analysis of the tread rubber might also be needed.
Regardless, it should never be used again.Comment

thanks pete any every one, and yes ive been wondering why i've never won the lotto, i think i just won it with that staying in one piece. a non rider mate of mine said, geeze u have bad luck, i said its exact opposite, im very lucky on this one.Comment
