The front wheel could probably be swapped with no issues. The rear wheel might cause some headaches depending on how similar they are. And you would probably need every part from the GS550 rear wheel (sprocket carrier, brake assembly, etc) to make it work.
Where are you located, and why are you looking for new wheels? -

1977 GS 400B (or 400-X)?
So I'm checking the Babbit's OEM web site and find 2 GS400s;
1. GS 400B - single front disk brake model
2. GS 400-X (or XB) - front drum brake model.
At Babbits, both rims are available! Front spokes are available! (No rear spoke set). Hubs are sadly, not available either....
still need to dig through the garage....Scott

Ah, ok. Are you looking for mag wheels or ones with spokes?
If it's any help, rear wheels from any GS450 will work.
Edit: I see you have mag wheels, so you want to look for spoke wheels. I believe most Gs bikes came with 19" front wheels, except for the parallel twins (GS400, GS425, and GS450E & GS450S). The center hub on the front of most Gs bikes are the same, the rear hub is hard to find.
