    80 - 83 GS1100E: Swing-arm Pivot Widths?

    Hi!

I have taken pivot width measurements of a 1983 GS1100E swing-arm. The result is 220 mm for the swing-arm by itself or 225 mm when including the large washers and dust seals on each side.

Are the pivot swing-arm widths the same for all GS1100Es (80 to 83)? I ask this because I have a 97 GSXR1100 swing-arm that I need to bring to the machine shop in order to make the pivot width the same as the one on my 1980 GS1100ET. I would like to do this before taking the swing-arm off my ET.

Note: The center spacer, the 2 small spacers and the 2 bearings are the same for all of these bikes ... which makes me think that the swing-arm width is the same.
However it would be safer to have an exact measurement of an ET swing-arm before getting my GSXR one modified.

Any insight would be very appreciated!

    Thanks!

More than that they all use the same swingarm.

      That's great to hear!
I was not sure because the part numbers are different from one year to another.
      Thanks a lot! Much appreciated!

I know the pivot bolts have different lengths, but not sure what else would be different.

          I'll only know when I remove the swing-arm from my 1980 GS1100ET.
I will certainly compare and post specs/pics.
          Thanks Jim!
