I do not know these brand of shocks but I have heard you get what you pay for. I'm pretty sure it would be a waste of your money. Start hunting around on ebay for a used set of progressive's or something else. You might be able to get a used set of Hagons for $200.Rob

Difficult to recommend unbranded shocks on eBay. We have even seen scooter shocks trying to pass themselves off as motorcycle shocks because of their style.
I'd go for known brands, myself, but that may just be me.

Those look like MDI shocks. They are reputed to be very stiff for solo riding.I picked up a used set from a local GSR member for my 78 1000 because it's going to mainly be a 2 up bike.Figure they might be good for that.
Edit:The bushings that come with them are NFG,the PO of mine put in a good set.Last edited by Guest; 09-21-2013, 02:11 AM.

Yeah, those are the infamous MDI shocks. The plastic bushings don't last. You have to salvage the metal ones out of whatever you're replacing.
Definitely overdamped. They might be OK on the back of an 800 lb bike, but they are quite harsh on my 1000G with GK luggage. I definitely recommend spending another hundred to get something decent.Dogma

MDI or EMGO name, seem to be the same inexpensive shocks that you can search Ebay and find for $80-100 depending on type(clevis or eyelet), length and seller. I bought a set for a '83 GS1100G I owned a few years ago to replace the leaking fluid air shocks put on by the PO, and like others say, not a very good ride. If your existing shocks are leaking then maybe, but 34 year old stock shocks usually give a more comfortable ride than these as long as they aren't leaking. Save your $ and wait for a more useful set that may cost $100+ more if your intent on a good replacement and keeping the bike. I wouldn't buy them again.Originally posted by Dogma View PostYeah, those are the infamous MDI shocks. The plastic bushings don't last. Better yet do this:Originally posted by bigbabee View Postok I think that I will keep the 34 year old original shocks . They aren`t leaking yet.
It's nice having a motorcycle that rides well, sticks to the road, and tracks and handles well.Originally posted by gsgeezer View PostI would rather buy lightly used good shocks on ebay than the new ones that you mentioned. I bought a Works rear shock for an ex500, with remote res. for $90, for example. It was like new and I saved $$$.
You can buy some quality new shocks for under $300.
Your 34 year old ones can't come close to a modern pair of quality shocks, even when they were new.
