Fork Size

I am going to be replacing fork seals soon. Does anyone know what size the fork tubes are on an 83 GS1100E?? I can find seals abundantly but I am unsure what size tool to order. I prefer to use the tool and not an improvised piece of pipe or whatever.... Any help is appreciated.

It's the tool you use to seat the seal it slides up and down the fork tube and hammers them gently into place.

I guess I have never set them with out the tube in place... doing it that way you could use a large socket...

How will you get the tube in if you put the seal in first?
The bushing on the end of the tube won't fit through the seal.

PVC pipe here, works great. Get a long enough pipe that goes over the length of the fork tube. You might have to trim down the bottom of the PVC just a bit to fit the seal just right.

I also use a length of PVC. I forget exactly what size it is (I think it's 1 1/2"), but it was very tight on the fork until I cut a slit down the length so it can expand a bit.

I can't guarantee that I cut it squarely, so I marked that end with a squiggly line to show its irregularity and only use the factory-finished end on the seals.
