What brake fluid for 79 GS850?

I need to add brake fluid & the manual says a glycol based fluid. I do have a couple cans of Dot 3 synthetic from auto parts store and unsure if it can be added? TIA!

Regular DOT 4 is what I use. Havent any solid advice on the synthetic stuff though.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

If you change it out every year or two like you are supposed to it doesn't matter, any DOT 3 or DOT 4 will work.

If you are going to leave it in for years, or if you live in a REALLY humid place, try Castrol LMA. The LMA stands for Low Moisture Affinity, it does not tend to pick up water like the cheap stuff.

Renewing it is a LOT more important than which type you use.
Theres a reason for it, people die when their brakes lock up.
