    Link to me a decent cheap front master cylinder

    The old one on my 1980 GS1000G has served its purpose for the last 34 years and is in need of replacement, its not working quite right even after a cleaning. Could you link to me one I could buy on eBay for cheap that would work for my dual front brakes? Maybe one you have had luck with

    Look for a 16mm jobbie. Lots of choices on ebay.

      I replace both of mine with XJ900 items when they were in surplus and being sold off as NOS, very cheaply indeed. Although nominally the same bore size (5/8), there was an improvement in feel if nothing else - I can't say stopping power, but the brakes were a little bit more responsive, which may have been due to slight differences in lever pivot point, etc.
      Now, 20 years on, I've resealed one of those and it's as good as ever, but for the other one, I'm fitting a Deauville m/c simply because it's available.
      I looked at the Chinese m/c offerings, and read about too many quality control issues to be happy with trusting my neck to one.

        Its 14mm...I hope that is okay, someone linked this in a different thread and said they used it and really liked it. So I went with it, plus I thought it'd look decent with the red handlebars on my cafe style GS

          It was suggested that you get a 16 mm unit, you went ahead and got a 14.

              Because it was linked in an earlier thread. I canceled the order anyhow, not just because it is smaller but also because it would take like a week and a half just to get here.

              I'm checking around on eBay and you're actually pretty limited on what there is for a 16mm bore size, 7/8 bar size, and 14mm banjo bolt size.

              If only I could choose parts simply on their color and how shiny they are..

                A 14mm banjo bolt size is the wrong size. The stock banjo bolt is 10mm, not sure the thread pitch. Bolts are sized by the thread size, not the hex size.

                When selecting a master you should also consider whether or not you need a threaded mirror boss. Many of these chinese masters don't have mirror provisions.
