160/60-18 in 82 GS1100E Aluminum Swingarm

I've been searching and searching but have found nobody else who has done this exact combo. I've talked to a couple guys about this but just want to get a little more assurance before I go ahead with it.
A set of hubs has fallen into my hands and I want to use a 5.5"x18" wire rim with a 160/60-18. Has anyone run this size rim & tire on their 1100E? I've heard of folks using a 4.25"x17" with 160s & 170s, but Im concerned that the extra inch of diameter, plus added 3/4" width of the 5.5x18 will be too much for the swinger to contain.
I already know I'm going to need to space the sprocket/chain, and modify the brake stay. I'm not worried about that part. I just want to be sure the 18" rim and the 160 wide tire will fit in the swing arm.
I want to use the 18" rim in order to maintain ground clearance. I have a 130/90-17 on there now and have been known to scrape my V&H and foot pegs on the pavement from time to time. I don't want to loose much height if I don't need to.

A 180/55-17 will fit in the stock swing arm. Clearance issues are chain to tire znd chain to frame. I suspect as long as you stick to 170/60-18 you should have no problems. Note a 530 conversion is mandatory.

I just realized that I could run a 160/70-17 which is actually 1/4" taller than the 160/60-18. There seem to be more tire options for the 17 inch rim as well. 530 conversion is already part of the plan along with the brake stay mod. I'll probably go with the 17" rim in the end here.

60% of 160 = 96 mm.. 90% of 130 = 117mm. Add the extra 12.7mm in (1/2 of 1 inch is 12.7mm) and you still have a tyre 10mm lower than the 17". Keep in mind its 4am here and my maths suck lol

If you stray from the 160/60-18 you will have much less choices. If you select 170/60-18 then it is difficult to find a matching front. I mix Dunlop (170/60-18) for the rear and Perrelli for 110/80-18 on the front.

Dennis Kirk has a tire search feature that gives you many of the options based on size.

I was definitely planning to get a wider rim and do the 110/80-18 up front. I'm only finding 2 options for a 170/60-18 (shinko and Avon). There seem to be far more options for 17" rims than 18" rims. I can always mess around a bit with suspension height as well if I need to.

Sorry I just checked Dennis Kirk and nothing showed under 170/60-18. This is the tire I'm using on the rear.
