    tire size confusion

so I'm in the process of looking at tires for the kz and gs. the kz is fairly straight forward, but I'm having some trouble hunting down tires for the gs. I don't have the size that's on the rear infront of me right now. but by looking at the guide in bassclif's site, going by what it says there for a 4.25 rim(according to the FSM), I need a 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, or even 170 width. so which tire width do I need to be looking at for my 650g?

First of all, there is NO WAY you have a 4.25 rim on your 650G. At most, it is a 2.5.

The correct tire would be a 120/90-17, but most fit a 130/90-17 because it's easier to find.

      WHEEL, REAR (17xMT2.50)

      Agree on using a 120.

The front is 19x1.85, so use a 100.

You wheel widths should be 1.85" front and 2.15" rear. It's cast on the rim somewhere. The smaller tires are worth finding, the bike will handle heavy with wide tires pinched onto such skinny wheels. 90/90-19 and 120/90-17 would probably be the best, 110 on the back wouldn't be bad either..

Life is too short to ride an L.

4.25" is a tire size not wheel size. In this format the tires are usually 100% profile (as wide as tall) and only one number is required. that of tire size with a much smaller rim.
