1979 GS750L rear brake caliper offset to one side

I just replaced the rear brake pads and noticed the caliper sits too close to one side of the rotor. All the spacers and parts on the axle are correct and in the right spot. The axle does not appear to be bent. The caliper bracket is not damaged and does not look like it is likely to be bent due to its design. The associated pad from the side that is too close is more worn than the other side and the new pad is rubbing slightly.

I am considering putting a thin washer/bushing/spacer between the caliper bracket and the right side axle spacer to see if I can center it better.

Has anyone seen this problem and if so did you do anything about it?

    Thanks

Can you post up a picture of your caliper and entire rear wheel assembly? Are you sure you have all the spacers on the wheel back in the correct locations?
