Help choosing a spring rate for the GK

    I think the stiffest RaceTech has for the GK 41's is1.1kg/mm also. The GK is not in their drop down menus, but if you email, they will tell you which gold valve emulators and springs fit the GK.

      Bandits run 43mm fork tubes which are longer.
      89/97 (maybe newer idk) kat 600 run 41mm tubes the same length as standard gs1100g forks. Not sure the length on the gk forks.

        The GK takes the same springs that a lot of other big bikes from that era with 41mm forks. (FJ1100/1200, Kaw Concours) We have 1.2kg/mm listed in the catalog, although most people will be better off with the 1.1s.

          Hey all.

          It as been a while but I am back at it.





          Tomorrow I will install the springs.

          But I can't find which way they go. I had read a post long-while-ago about that and can't find it again.


          Darn, I just realized I need to go out and get oil.

            I found something about unsprung weight and it doesn't really matter.
            I choose tightly wound down.

                Hi Redman.

                I had at the time.

                  At the time I told the story of the build. Now it's just memory. I have a hard time thinking that I built that.

                  From my photo album I built it in January 2015. No plans I just knew what I wanted. And improvised as I went.

                  The piston came from an engine crane.


                  Here are a few build pictures. A medieval type construct.

                  At the time I called it the Lumber-Jack.

                  Now it sports rounded corners, a vise on one corner, a power bar and many oil stains.







                  The pictures don't quite show how it stays up but it can't come down. It's solid.
