Brake noise
Went out for a quick ride to the store tonight and noticed that my front brakes were clacking when applied. I took a look when I got home. Eveything was tight. I found the holes in the calipers for the brake pad retaining pins are worn. The pins are OK. 30 plus years of steel working on aluminum I suppose. I'm not concerned at this point, but am curious. Should the pins get a little grease on them at install , or will that just attract and hold more gunk?sigpic

Regarding grease, it's relatively expensive (compared to lithium or moly grease for example), but for really special situations - such as places which are hard to get to and don't get inspected very often, you can buy a jar of molybednium paste that's about the slickest lubricant one can buy. The 8 oz jar I have is made by Loctite. Good stuff.Comment
